Over the Rainbow of London
Explore beyond Thanda Island in Over the Rainbow of London, this 1930s classic cruise yacht where old-world elegance and nostalgic luxury meet an East African Hemingway adventure. Guests have a unique opportunity to explore the region in this historic teak-over-oak-frame vessel, commissioned by a Scottish magnate in 1929 and launched in 1930. At the outbreak of World War II the yacht was requisitioned by the British government for coastal patrol of the Royal Navy, and Winston Churchill was one of the luminaries who has been on board. In 2017, when Swedish IT magnate and African adventurer, Dan Olofsson, first set eyes on the yacht, he fell in love with her and purchased her. In 2018, Over the Rainbow of London was entirely refitted by an Italian shipyard to befit her new life in East Africa.
